Our History

In 2002 Newmarket-based bloodstock agents Andrew Mead and Marion Goodbody aligned themselves with Bill and Tara Dwan, at that time running their stud farm near Navan in County Meath, to form a new consigning business to be known as The Castlebridge Consignment.

From a draft of just two foals and ten mares in the first year, Castlebridge grew steadily year on year and was soon the leading overall sales consignor in Europe, a position now held for many years.

Top lots at most of the major European Sales followed with such standouts as Irish Oaks winner CHIQUITA (€6,000,000 – the record for a horse sold at auction in Ireland), English Oaks winner QUALIFY, the 2000 Guineas winner NIGHT OF THUNDER (sold as a yearling), four-time Group 1 winner and highest rated horse in the world in 2020 GHAIYYATH, Dubai World Cup winner PRINCE BISHOP (sold as a foal), and ZHUKOVA winner of the Man O’War Stakes at Belmont (sold for 3,700,000 Guineas).

Castlebridge Stud in Ireland run by Bill and Tara Dwan is handily located close to Dublin Airport and Fairyhouse Sales, and also an easy drive to Goffs Sales. Split into two sections with 180 acres being available in total, the facilities include expert staff, top class vets, horse walkers, lunge rings, turnout paddocks etc.

Castlebridge East in Newmarket, overseen by Andrew Mead, has provided an English sales preparation and boarding farm since 2007, as part of the overall Castlebridge operation. Located just a few short miles from the centre of Newmarket, the paddocks are fenced with diamond-mesh fencing and the all-new facilities are of the same high standard as Castlebridge Ireland.

The location of Castlebridge East just minutes from the stallions at Darley, Cheveley Park, Juddmonte, Lanwades and the other Newmarket studs makes Castlebridge East an ideal boarding option for mares and fillies visiting Newmarket stallions. Being equally close to Tattersalls Sales, Castlebridge East is also perfectly located as a sale preparation centre for foals, yearlings, horses-in-training and mares.

With farms both in England and Ireland, Castlebridge can offer their clients top class boarding facilities close to many of the major stallion farms.
